PRIMAL FEAR Bassist Responds To Allegations Of Mistreatment Of Opening Acts

April 7, 2002

PRIMAL FEAR bassist Mat Sinner has contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET in order to state his side of the story with regards to his threat of legal action against SINERGY frontwoman Kimberly Goss over Kimberly's alleged description of Sinner as a “modern-day Hitler” in an interview published in the French Rock Hard magazine (see yesterday's report at this location).

The war of words, which stems from Sinner's alleged mistreatment of SINERGY when the latter group supported PRIMAL FEAR on a 1999 European tour, had escalated after Goss compared the bassist's tactics to those of the World War II-era Nazi dictator in the above-mentioned article, thus prompting Sinner to shoot off a threatening letter via his attorney stating that he would launch a lawsuit against Goss to the tune of €10,000 (approximately $8,800) if the SINERGY singer ever slandered him again, and demanding an immediate payment of €446.02 (approximately $392) as a warning fee for having "hurt his feelings".

“First of all, there are no bad feelings about Kim,” says Sinner in his statement. “She's a talented singer, but should concentrate on her career and [not] live in the past. Action speaks louder than words!

“Maybe PRIMAL FEAR is responsible for the manners of the agency's tour manager in 1999, so maybe I am — but the metal scene is small and should better stick together. The public is not the right platform to sort out any problems, and we can't change [what happened in] 1999.

“By the way — this tour manager [that is being accused of partaking in the alleged mistreatment of PRIMAL FEAR's opening acts] is a part of the management company for CHILDREN OF BODOM [which features in its ranks SINERGY guitarist and Goss' husband Alexi Laiho]

“To compare me with the most brutal mass murderer in history … that is going too far. This kind of language has no place in the world of metal today.

“My view: enjoy your life, crank the volume up and let the metal flow! We will see [each other] on tour and let's have a good time!

“In Metal, Mat Sinner
